As a non-profit member-based organization, Kewaunee Health & Fitness strives to keep membership fees affordable while still maintaining a high-quality facility and services.
We are currently seeking donations to continue upgrading and improving the facility, which was constructed in 2000. We have already raised almost $125,000 in donations, and have invested over $180,000 in facility and equipment improvements since May 2016 thanks to, not only generous donations but also a combination of borrowing and internally generated funds. Additional improvements required include:
Gym Project: The first phase of the gym project has been completed with repairs to the roof and walls along with all new lighting. This fall the last step was replacing the gym floor was completed this fall at an additional cost of $20,000.
Locker Rooms: The locker rooms are original to the building and are showing their age. They are in need of full remodeling.
Flooring: Weight Room & Fitness Area: These areas need to be reviewed for better utilization of space and potential upgrade. Following are the current areas that need new flooring:
Weight Room: The weight room is currently carpeted. This is the original carpeting from 2000, and it is worn and unsightly. This carpeting should be replaced with padded rubber flooring.
Fitness Area: large area adjacent to the gymnasium which houses additional cardio and rope/jump box fitness equipment, as well as the martial arts classes and a pickleball court. The flooring in this area is currently concrete. Upgrades are needed.
Continuing Improvements: In addition to these major capital improvements, we are seeking donations to support continuing enhancements to our facilities and programming. These include:
Weight machines: replace existing single-purpose machines with multi-function machines. This will provide additional exercise opportunities while reducing the floor space requirements.
Cardio machines: add and update cardio equipment to expand fitness offerings.
Fitness outreach: bring fitness programming to community populations, potentially including school district, nursing home, CBRF facilities, workplaces.
Health and wellness programming: expand our current monthly wellness programming, offered free of charge to the public.
Scholarship program: offer reduced cost or free memberships to low-income individuals and families.
